Pitawakia: Part 5 - By: Buffalo

"There's a bear in the last cave."

"Rick, you chicken. Just run past it," she replied.

Was she out of her mind? "You know the stories, the animals are either more peaceful, or more aggressive."

"You're gonna have to, Rick, or else you're stuck under there."

She had a point... Rick took a glance at Lily, still with her eyes closed. Was she in a coma? Rick tried to pass the thought from his mind. He glared into the cave, the bear was still sound asleep. Rick decided to go for it.

He started to hug the back wall of the cave, always focusing on the bear, and Lily. He tried to silence his feet so they made only the slightest tap. The bear stayed motionless, and Rick had to resist making any noise while his back was on the slimy wall.

Around halfway through, Rick heard a breath of air pass his ear. Rick looked to his left and saw Lily's head shaking and her eyes opening.. She looked dazed and confused. "Daddy?" she whispered. Across the room Rick heard a loud growl. In horror, he looked across the cave, the bear had opened his eyes, and they were piercing right through Rick's

The bear had a sort of an unseen menacing glint in its eyes, hiding behind the innocence of the brown. Rick could sense that the bear was some sort of evil.

For a split second, there was a strange feeling when Rick peered into those eyes. It felt like an exchange of a mixture of feelings and thoughts. The second was almost psychic, and undescribable.

Then, in a swift motion, the bear pounced on Rick and Lily. Rick quickly knocked Lily off of his shoulders, and felt the bear's claws ripping the barriers of his skin, and felt the air against his open wounds as the claws came out. Shrieks came as Lily hit the ground, and Rick pushed the bear to what he believed was the other end of the cave. Then Rick grabbed Lily and ran her to the opening at the end of the cave. He felt like a vampire as his eyes adjusted to the glare of the light.

He was outside of the cave at the bottom of the mountain. The camp wasn't that far away, and was just in eye distance. The bear was still in the cave, either because it was done trying to obtain its food, or it hadn't come around yet, so Rick walked a little bit down the path.

"Daddy," Lily said, "what happened at the camp hike yesterday?"

Rick looked down at Lily, "The hike was a while ago, Lily."

"How long has it been?"

"Around a week." How was she not dead, while she's been out of it and under a heap of skeletons for this whole time?

"Rick." He turned around and saw Sarah walking calmly down the path.

"Sarah? Where's Cathy?"

"What are you still doing here, Sarah?" Lily asked.

"I am not a human. I am a spirit, and I've been living in these woods for years," she didn't let Rick or Lily respond to anything, "50 years ago, during the first days of Pitawakia, I went to this camp. I was a quiet, shy girl, with a group of close friends," she said, "apparently I'm the perfect target."

"What?" Rick asked.

"Oh, I didn't guess that you hadn't assumed," Sarah said, "Every year, the staff at Pitawakia chooses a child to be killed in the mountains. They do this so they can get some twisted god to give good fortune to their camp."

Rick tried to speak, but Sarah continued, "I was the first spirit sacrifised to the gods. Instead of just dying, I stayed here with the forest. The forest is under my whole control, but if I can save one child from being sacrifised, I get to be free."

"I'm confused," Rick said, "why are you telling us all of this?"

"When they figure out that Lily isn't dead, they will kill not only Lily, but Cathy and you. So you must pass unnoticed to get out of here."

"How can we do that?" Lily asked.

As if in response, two trees fell over each other, which somehow sparked an open flame, which was growing rapidly.

"Cathy's fine, Rick," Sarah said, "run toward the camp, they'll all be gone by the time you get there." Rick stood dimly, in some sort of passive state. "Now, Rick!" Sarah screamed. Rick grabbed Lily and put her on his shoulders, and ran in the opposite direction. The forest was already starting to heat up. Sarah walked into the fire and seemed to evaporate with the heat.

The path to the camp wasn't that long, and as the forest ended, a big clearing came. To Rick's right, Cathy came out of another trail. Both, without words, ran to the parking lot. The camp was dead silent.

As they reached their car, the fire was already making things seem distorted, trees seemed to wiggle through the heat. The Sancrestos, now finally reunited, left Pitawakia. When they entered the highway, all the love and affection coming from Cathy and Rick, a thought seemed to enter Rick and Cathy's mind. They were both silent, and they seemed to both know that the two of them were thinking it. It was like a nameless voice, heeding a warning to them both.

Tell your children about Pitawakia every year. Make sure that their children tell their children, and so on. This isn't the end of Pitawakia. You will be seeing it much sooner than you think.

Six Warriors - By: Twist of Fate

Once lived six brothers
Fighters of Saradomin
Defenders of gods

From one stranger's gift
They were granted their powers
Following their path

One's magic barrage
Another's accurate shot
And four close fighters

Six warriors stood
On a foggy battlefield
They fought side by side

A unique style
One magic blast clears a path
Letting the rest charge

Breaking ranks with ease
Little was seen of the last
His shower of bolts

They became weaker
In Morytania's edge
Their last stand

No longer powered
The first and final defeat
Retreated from hell

Now back at the camp
Severely infected wounds
They grew yet weaker

With no more power
A slow dishonorable death
Six warriors died

Lying Side by side
Leaning on the other's arm
Their legend ended

A loyal army
Building graves both day and night
Their last resting place

Built six barrow hills
The stranger appeared again
A spell cast on them

Their souls haunt the hills
Defending from invaders
Their spirits live on

An old ancient tome
Lay to tell of sacrifice
Of six warriors
